CRB checked for Nannies, Tutors and Babysitters
A CRB stands for the Criminal Records Bureau, this is a police Check performed by the Home Office which all Child-Carers need in order to work with children.
The Current legislation does not allow the self-employed or individual Child-carers to apply for a CRB check by themselves. The only way is to apply through a Nanny Agency.
An Enhanced CRB disclosure on a Child-Carer checks the following:
- Whether the Child-Carer has been banned from working with children in a previous childcare role. If so, their name appears on the Protection of children's act list.
- Whether the Child-Carer has been convicted at any offences.
- Whether the Child-Carer appears on what is formerly known as "list 99". it is more recently referred to as Section 142 of the Education Act 2002.
